Aromas of dark cherries with dried flowers and some citrus rind follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a juicy finish. Give it a year to soften, but serious effort for a Rosso.

The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino from Silvio Nardi lifts up with a seductive display of crushed raspberries dusted with confectioners’ spices, giving way to violets and lavender. It’s silky in texture and fleshy in feel, with potent currant and licorice tones that saturate the palate. Residual acids maintain a juicy and lively impression, as hints of fine tannin tug at the cheeks, leaving a note of hard red candies to linger. Not only is this beautiful today, but I expect it will also improve over the next few years of cellaring.
