Wine Advocate - 91pts
The 2019 Vila Santa Reserva is a blend of 30% Alicante Bouschet, 20% Aragonez, 20% Syrah, plus Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon dividing the rest, aged for 12 months in an equal mixture of French and American oak (40% new). It comes in at 14.3% alcohol. Typically, this is one of the best values in Alentejo. So, too, again. It’s a relatively inexpensive wine that often performs a level or two above its price category. This year, it seems tightly wound, concentrated and still beautifully structured. The tannins are always ripe, never hard, but they are there and provide support. For the first time, this is now sourced solely from Quinta da Viçosa. There is no problem holding this, as it ages well, but it can be drunk now too.
