After working a few harvests at producers such as Littorai and Failla starting in 2004, wine became a passion for John Lockwood. It was in 2010 while at Failla that he and his wife, Amy Seese, started the Enfield project, which he pursued full time in 2013. His method is to partner with small growers from California's renowned heritage sites in Napa, Sonoma and beyond. The independent growers can change each year because the intention is to make the best wines they can with the fruit from their trusted growers, but never the “perfect wine,” its about the best story. Lockwood's dedication to his craft is evident in Enfield's wines, which are considered some of the best of the New California movement.
Citrine is the first wine where John Lockwood blended multiple vineyards. The fruit is sourced from four Central Coast vineyards with vines all averaging 40 years in age. Citrine honors some of California’s most prized historic sites while embodying a style reminiscent of southern Burgundy.
