The honey notes take the back seat in this vintage, but first yeast pastries and a fruit reminiscent of peach Melba are noticeable. A grassy-green component resonates in the background. With air and temperature, the fruit gradually becomes more concise, now with yellow apple, a sea of flowers and light lemon. The peach and apricot character remains decisive. Over time, it's getting fuller and softer, but without losing elegance and lightness. Here, the beautiful acidity plays out its strengths by cushioning the residual sweetness wonderfully. With momentum, vigour and youthful esprit, the rheingauer Spätlese lives up to its name and gives joy of life on hot summer days. (RN - 05/20)
